The Presents We get in His Presence

A. In his Presence
Psalms 18:1-50
David is singing a song of deliverance. He is acknowledging over and over how God has protected him, strengthened him and provided for him, as long as he stayed in God presence. There is peace, there is joy (Ps. 16:11) and there is provision and deliverance in the presence of God.
“How do I get into the presence of God?” you might be asking. By reading His Word, singing songs of praise and/or praying in the spirit. Each of these brings you into His Holy presence. Allow yourself to experience what He has for you there. It’s like a little getaway. Instead of running to the things of the world that only satisfy for a moment and brings no lasting change, and often leave us feeling empty after, run to Him and be forever changed.
“Draw nigh to Him and He will draw night o you” James 4:8 (Message)

B.  There is Peace in His Presence
Phil 4:7 says that God’s peace passes all understanding. It’s His peace that keeps our hearts and minds strong no matter what life throws at us! When trouble or crisis comes we must get into His presence and draw on His supply of peace. When we have true peace there is no mountain we can’t climb, no raging river we can’t cross. It’s God’s peace that shows us the way of escape. It’s in this place of peace that we can think most clearly and not make decisions based on our emotions. Sometimes our emotions can lead us down the wrong path.

C.  Thankfulness brings you into His Presence
Psalms 106:1 David understood what giving of thanks provided. In many of the Psalms you will find him singing songs of thankfulness. He was reminding himself of the goodness and faithfulness of our God. See also Ps 107. We need to remember the wonderful things God has done for us.
