Simple RX for Good Health

Have you ever heard the term “less is more”. It simply means that sometimes the simplest approach to something is the the most beneficial way. I am not a doctor, or a nutritionist, or a expert by any means on health, but I am a student of life and have a made a few observations that I wanted to share.

We are living in a time when there is so much available to us. The options that we have when it comes to our diets, exercise and medical help is sometimes overwhelming. God made each fingerprint unique, and each of our bodies are just as unique. Each one of us has to figure out what our individual health plan should be. We all have our own unique blend of body chemistry, metabolism and genetics. What works for the woman next to you might not work for you. I believe that God has a tailor made plan for your health and He is the Great Physician and leading expert that you should consult with when trying to determine your prescription for health.
The details of your plans will be unique to you, however, there are a few things that should be included in the foundation of any good health plan. These items are so obvious and simple, but they are often overlooked. They are getting enough rest, eating healthy foods and drinking enough fluids. A fourth part that we overlook is our stress level too. I am suggesting that if we start with these four basic things, we will be surprised about their impact on our overall health.

Try to think of your body as a machine. You want your body to run at its optimal potential. In a previous article under the Awareness heading, Sarah shared about “checking under your hood”. I think this is a great analogy. If your car needs a certain oil to run well, that’s what we put in. Our bodies are not much different in that respect. There are certain things that it requires to run efficiently and for a long time. When we stray too far from the specs given in the owner’s manual, breakdown occurs. Try to treat your body like the well-made machine that it is. Give your body time to get refreshed, feed your body things that are not altered too much from their original state, drink enough water to be hydrated and try to maintain balance in your schedule.
Build from here for your prescription for good health.

Dear friend, I am praying that all is well with you and that your body is as healthy as I know your soul is.  3 John 1:2 (NLT)
